Spotlight on PROJECTS MADE BY YOU!
~ Creativity by our Customers ~
New on the News page - Creativity at its Finest!
Many of you are so much more creative than you give yourself credit for, or are sewing/designing/quilting as a creative endeavor without ever planning on entering competitions. We understand! So, for all you unsung creative types we want to spotlight your work here each month. Send us a photo and all the particulars (maker, pattern, designer) to firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll showcase you and your projects here!
A customer recently purchased this beautiful tiger batik and look at her creativity! Deborah Williams - you rock!
We offered a class here at Lunn Fabrics in August and helped these fine ladies make gorgeous wedged, pieced Dresden plates for a wall hanging or table runner. Beautiful work!
Recently, two new projects were brought in the shop for an impromptu show and tell - Loraine Smith made this stunning jelly roll quilt from our batiks AND made a tote to match! Perfect for storing that quilt when you're not snuggling under it.
Also, Gwendolyn Brown shared this black and white quilt recently as well. Nice work Gwendolyn!
Ellen C. made two quilts for twin grandaughters. Ellen writes, "Quilters love sharing, seeing the work of others, and inspiration. In fact the quilts in my picture were inspired by one that was on your shop wall in late 2015.".
Another beautiful quilt pieced by a customer! This one, called Shadow Play, was pieced by Pat Harris and she brought it into the shop to show us. Beautiful work Pat! Quilting was done by Catie Gynn.
Another beautiful work of love! This one was machine pieced by Katherine Ward and machine quilted by Ruthie Hoover. Thank you for sharing.
Do you have or know about a quilt, tote, wall art, garment, or other project that has been made utilizing our batiks? We'd love to showcase the work here! Email us a photo and we will do our best to add a picture of the work here. We need to know (and credit) the original designer or pattern maker, plus the permission of the actual artist/sewer.
PATCHWORK PILLOW PROJECT -
Benefits the Ganesa Study Center in Java
Examples of some of the 2017 entries.
Our 2017 Patchwork Pillow Project & Contest continues through October. We donate 10% of our gross sales to support the Ganesa Study Center in Java Indonesia as our way of giving back to the Javanese people who make our high quality batiks. You too can bless these children and families who visit the Ganesa Center by making a Pillow top using batik fat quarters.
The Javanese people traditionally do not use chairs so they sit on the floor in the library. A pillow is ideal for comfort so we want to help the Study Center visitors by providing a large pillow top (22" x 22") made by YOU!
To participate, either stop in the shop for 2 free fat quarters OR if you live too far away please use two fat quarters or scraps from your own stash. Pillow tops must be 22" x 22", can be pieced/appliqued/embroidered, and they must be machine quilted securely with batting and backing (please do NOT finish or bind the raw edges). We just need the quilted pillow TOP. We, here in the shop, will make a pillow back and they will be stuffed with the pillow form once they arrive in Java.
Plus, you could possibly win PRIZES for Best Patchwork, Best Applique, Funniest/Cutest, Best Quilted, Farthest Traveled Top, Best Machine Embroidery. All prizes are valued at $25 or more. Return your completed pillow top to our store by October 31, 2017. The finished pillow tops will be displayed in our shop and prizes will be awarded in November.
