There are several steps in the process of making batik fabrics.
This is just a quick overview and main production steps of producing the fabrics.
There are several steps before, during and after that go into bringing you batik fabrics.
Scroll down the view the process.

The fabric is dyed the first color.
This will be the color of the design on the fabric.

The fabric is then stamped with wax using a handmade
copper stamp of the motif called a Tjap.
This will preserve the dye where the wax is stamped
during the next step.

The fabric is then bleached stripping the first dye process
as the wax protects the first dye color.

The fabric is then dyed the second color with the wax
stamped motif still protecting the first dye color.

The wax is then boiled off the fabric revealing the first dye color
and completeing the dyeing process.

This is just part of the overall process. There is so much more that goes into just making the Tjap (copper stamp)
for the design on the fabric as well as the finishing process before being shipped.
